No accounts. No ads. No selling your data. Your vehicle info and your chat with STEVE live on your phone. When you ask STEVE something or scan an estimate, it passes through our server to our AI provider to get you an answer, and we don't keep it. Two exceptions, both only when you choose: if you tap the flag (⚑) on one of STEVE's answers, that chat is sent to the developer, and if you report a fix with What Fixed It, that report is sent to the developer.
These are saved in your phone's browser storage, not on our servers:
Tap Clear in the chat to wipe that vehicle's chat. "Reset App" in the Garage clears everything stored on your phone.
Your messages, your vehicle info, and (if a dongle is connected) your live readings, trouble codes and any test you record are sent through our server to our AI provider, Anthropic, which generates STEVE's reply under its commercial terms. RevResponsible doesn't store your conversations on its servers.
If STEVE gets something wrong and you tap the flag under his answer, we send the developer: that answer, the last few messages before it (text only, no photos), any note you typed, your vehicle's year, make and model, your STEVE mode, and the live readings at that moment. No name, no phone number, no internet address. It's kept for up to 90 days so the problem can be fixed, then deleted automatically. Nothing is sent unless you tap the flag and then Send.
If you use What Fixed It, we receive what you typed (codes, symptom, the fix, whether it held, who did it, rough cost) plus your vehicle's year, make, model, engine and mileage. No name, no phone number, no internet address. The developer reviews reports by hand. Reviewed fixes may later help STEVE answer other owners with the same vehicle and problem, without anything that identifies you. Reports are kept until deleted; ask and we'll remove yours.
Photos or text of an estimate go the same route, only to be analyzed. We don't store them. Heads up: estimates often show names, addresses, phone numbers, VINs and shop details. Crop or cover anything you'd rather not share before you scan.
Your vehicle's year, make and model are sent through our server to the U.S. government's NHTSA recall database. Results are cached by vehicle (not by person) for about a day.
To send you a notification when a new recall is posted, we store your browser's push address (a delivery address your phone's browser creates, with no name or phone number attached), your vehicle's year, make and model, and how many recalls it had when you signed up. Turn alerts off in the Garage and we delete that record. We also delete it automatically if deliveries start failing.
STEVE gives guidance and second opinions, not guarantees. He can be wrong, and he can't see or touch your vehicle. Always follow factory service and safety procedures, confirm a diagnosis before replacing parts, and get safety-critical systems (brakes, steering, suspension, tires, fuel, airbags, overheating) inspected in person.
The developer's contact email will be listed here before public launch.
